Greenpeace wanted to make a noise at the COP17 climate change conference in Durban. South Africa relies too heavily on coal to power the country and Greenpeace wanted to exert pressure on the government to support renewable energy.
We chose to build a wind-powered petition. Delegates from the conference in Durban signed the bamboo chimes to add their names to the petition for renewable energy. The chimes were then hung up to form a giant wind powered installation on Durban beach front. The more signatures we got the louder the noise.
