Chalk Circle, an organisation that champions gender literacy, launched ‘Just be Better’, an animated series designed to start a conversation with teenage males about gender stereotypes. Instead of preaching, the campaign talks to young men in their own language – as crass as that can sometimes be – to remind them they don’t have to be perfect. They just need to be better when it comes to respecting gender roles.
Gender can be hard to discuss, particularly for teenagers who are becoming young men. But understanding gender roles has never been more important. It reduces gender inequality, discrimination, oppression and violence in our communities. 'Just be Better' is way of starting that conversation.
This campaign is the creation of Blair Panozza, Sean Cunningham, Jake Barrow, Paul Nagy, James Wills, Aaron Rocca, Cameron Gough at Dirty Puppet Animation, Tristan Dewey at Bang Bang Studios, Kath Chen, Louise Brugman, Jessica Parker, Sarah Bailey, Jules Callen, Ollie Knocker, Holly Tilson, Simon Gray and so many more.
