Hunger is a massive problem in South Africa with over 3 million children going to bed hungry. Our client KFC has an initiative called Add Hope that feeds over 100 000 children across the country everyday. Everytime you buy a meal at KFC you can add R2 to your bill and Add Hope to the children of our country.
A child’s drawings can tell us a lot about their level of development, how they feel about themselves and their world. We wanted to show how feeding children healthy meals every day can make a difference to their lives, and to tell this story of hope through children’s drawings.
For this project we worked with the children of Afrika Tikkun, an Add Hope beneficiary. They produced over a 1000 drawings that were used to make this commercial. This is an entirely child led story. All we did was composite their drawings and animate the characters together to create the evolution from little underdeveloped squiggle to the more developed form of a young girl. It was an amazing project with a hugely talented team, including the 250 children from Add Hope.
This is the story of the difference good food can make to a child's development. A story told entirely from the drawings of the children of Add Hope.
